Send us a picture of your Service Technician
& tell us why they are your Hero!

Show appreciation for your Service Technicians by sending us a picture of your Service Technician and tell us why they are your Hero.  These will be displayed on a projection screen during the Maintenance Heroes event. Send the pic and why they're your Hero by Friday, October 6th to Cherice Morris at cmorris@taaonline.org.

Fun for everyone! Enjoy a variety of games at the Stokely Event Center. Games include free arcade games and outdoor yard-style games.

If you're looking for some competition you can compete in the Box Car Competition! The Box Car Competition is for SERVICE TECHNICIANS ONLY. Service Technicians have the opportunity to design, build, and race a box car for a chance to win prizes. You can build a box car as an individual, or work with other Service Technicians from your apartment community or management company to build a box car as a team.

Let us know if you plan to participate in in Box Car Competition by Monday, October 9th.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR BOX CAR

- Use a cardboard box, or multiple cardboard boxes to construct your car.
- There are no restrictions on the size of your car, however keep in mind that you must         have a driver in the car for the race, and the driver must wear the car for the race.
- You don't necessarily have to construct/ design the car to look like a traditional race         car, it can be constructed to resemble any vehicle.
- Make sure you cut a hold in the top of your car for your driver to fit through.
- The bottom of the car should be open so that your driver can "power" the car with            their legs.
- During the race, the driver will be required to carry an egg on a spoon while racing          around the track. It is recommended that you create "suspenders" out of actual                suspenders, rope, ribbon or some other material to create a harness so that the driver      can wear the car and still have their arms free.

Here are some ideas for customizing your car
- paint your car
- decorate your car
- use maintenance supplies (Award for Best Use of Maintenance Supplies!)
- use paper mache
- add wheels, steering wheel, headlights, etc.

In case you need a visual, here are pictures of example "Box Cars"

Need more examples? Try doing an internet search for "cardboard race car".

RACE DETAILS

- The car can only be powered by human legs. NO motors of any kind are allowed.
- Depending on the number of races, there may be qualifying races leading up to the      final race to determine the winner. You will be notified of your race time(s) in advance.
- The driver must race around the designated track. Any deviation from the track will          result in disqualification.
- The driver must carry an egg on a spoon during the race. If the egg falls off the spoon      the driver must stop and pick up the egg and place back on their spoon to continue.
- You are allowed to have 2 "Pit Crew" members to travel with the driver around the            track to assist the driver if they drop their egg or need help with their car. The Pit Crew      cannot interfere with other drivers on the track. Members of the Pit Crew do not have      to be Service Technicians.

The TAA Maintenance Appreciation Committee reserves the right to deny entry of a box car due to a design they deem inappropriate.
